How The Dolmen Club House came about…

The Dolmen Clubhouse was inspired by the clubhouse model first established in New York City in 1948, designed to provide a supportive environment for individuals facing mental health challenges, helping them lead happier and more fulfilling lives within their communities. Unlike the New York model, which focuses on work-related activities, the Dolmen Clubhouse places a stronger emphasis on creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for its members, offering them opportunities to socialise, connect, and enjoy a variety of activities together.

Alongside promoting social interaction, the Dolmen Clubhouse provides practical support with everyday tasks, such as money management, bill payments, job applications, accessing courses, and finding housing.

Dolmen Club House was originally founded in Ballina in 2002, the first club was such a success that it led to the opening of a second club in Castlebar a year later in 2003.
